In summer, the upper part of the Gardon goes underground, meaning no water between Russan and the baume.  We suggest an alternative route of going up the river from Collias to get to La Baumeand then turning it into a round trip.

You need to be careful, though, since you will need to pull the boats through the four small rapids and pass the dam at Collias. If you are already familiar with the Pont du Gard, you will know that this route will take you far away from the tourist crowds that are always numerous during the summer season.

For the more sporty among you, there is also the option to leave before 10:00 a.m. and carry out the Collias-Pont du Garddescent during the afternoon. Bring a good pair of shoes to walk through the water.
